Video Captures Suicide Bomber At Moment Of Explosion In Ibb, Yemen

A suicide bomber yelled "Allahu Akbar" before detonating his bomb vest at a cultural center where a (Shia) Houthi rebel group was gathered for a religious ceremony on 31 December 2014. Although no group has taken credit for the attack as of now, AQAP al Qaeda in the Arab Peninsula (Sunni) is suspected. 33 people perished in the attack, while dozens more were injures. The governor of Ibb was also wounded in the blast. Houthi rebels have been battling AQAP for several months, and even took control of the Yemem capital of Sanaa. The US State department had the following to say of the attack: "The United States strongly condemns today’s suicide attacks against a peaceful local gathering in Ibb, Yemen, which killed over 30 people, including children, who were celebrating a religious holiday. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of those killed and wounded in the attack."
